Mucho apologies my dear beauty fiends (yes it's meant to say fiends not friends) I haven't been giving much of my dedicated time to this site as I would like to but I do have some things to share.
You may have heard people saying that the Aloe Vera plant is great for healing skin, dry skin, sunburn and so on. But, until you have tried it you may aswell have not been listening.
If you live in sunny climes you may be familiar with the Aloe Vera plant, if not this is what it looks like....
You will notice that the leaves are actually spiky, but don't let that put you off! If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one, I advise you to cut a leaf from the underside of the plant so not to damage the rest of the plant. Be careful not to spike your hands, take a knife and just slightly peel the spikes off the edges of the leaf to make it smooth.
Wash the leaf to make sure there are no bugs hanging around, and make another cut on the edge where you cut it from the plant. This will be the juiciest edge. The reason I needed one the other day is because my lips where chapped beyond chapped. Not even The Body Shop's Vitamin E Lip Balm could help me, as the sides of my mouth had cracked too.
So I got the leaf and squeezed some aloe vera juice out, it looks a lot like clear lipgloss, so if you do put it on your lips they won't be green or anything. The improvement was so good. I kept the leaf in a food bag in my fridge so the leaf would be kept cool. I applied it as often as I could in the house and right before bed. You can also strip the leaf and slap it right on your sunburn.
If you don't have any Aloe Vera growing near you, there are always aloe based treatments, it's even in Shampoo. I found this great site where people in the US can get free Aloe Vera samples plus they have loads of info on there including my fave, that Cleopatra is said to have used it on her face! Well if it is good enough for an Egyptian Queen, then it's good enough for me. :)
It must be around a year ago now that I had a big pink streak in my hair. Being a blonde my hairdressers have always warned me against having a pink put into my hair as it would bleed. But, that didn't stop me. Before I start with my little story about the journey to pink hair please do not copy anything I have done. There I said it. So if you wreck your hair it's not my fault :)
One day when I used to work as a hotel entertainer I was lets say a bit more than bored as I smiled a cheese smile and handed out bingo pens. My mind drifted as I saw the best pink pen you have ever seen, a lady was testing it out on a piece of paper and it was like that scene out of Wayne's World. Oh yes it will be mine.
So that night I took said bingo pen home and streaked a big chunk of my hair with it. When I first did it, the colour was really strong, although I was worried it would discolour the rest of my hair....But it didn't hurray! You know I was really happy with that pink streak I may even do it again.
After that followed me having the violet streaks in my hair last summer which I got done professionally and totally loved until it all bled when I washed it. Then I had to have peroxide put in my hair and it's been a nightmare ever since. My hair has felt so damaged and split...it doesn't agree with bleaches.
So at the end of it a cheap bingo pen gave me the look I wanted! There are other ways to achieve pink on blonde but I'm sticking to my own methods in future :)
